From rapid prototyping to rapid growth

For every enterprise looking to scale efficiently, prototyping is a must perform.

Transforming an idea into a working product is an intricate process, one that requires foreknowledge of the procedures needed to take such a product from the design table to a market fit.

Central to this design-final product cycle is prototyping, and as you probably know, it’s an integral component of the drive to innovate for both the budding startup and the fully fledged enterprise.

Prototypes are a one-stop development solution for deriving qualitative information about the feasibility of your product. Add that to the numerous other roles they play, such as serving as demo samples for investors, and it’s easy to see why they are critical to the product development cycle.

If you’re ready to innovate but unsure of the prototyping solution that matches your product specific needs here’s a brief rundown of what we have in store for you at B&C.

Proof of concept prototypes – What will work and what won’t

When there’s a need to demonstrate the concept on which your product is based on to key stakeholders a proof of concept prototype is just what the doctor (engineer) ordered.

Typically, the prototyping process starts off with a concept design, i.e., the fundamental design of your idea provided by you. We then develop and modify this idea into a mathematically correct virtual model called the CAD model.

Amongst other things, the CAD model assesses the manufacturability of your product so that in the end you’re provided with a clear picture of the risks involved in developing your products and possible methods to address such risks.

Demonstration prototypes – Something to disprove the naysayers

While a proof of concept prototype highlights the principles on which your product subsist, a demonstration prototype takes it a step further and demonstrates its actual mechanics and functioning capabilities. It is however not uncommon for demonstration prototypes to lack some functionalities.

Regardless, a demonstration prototype, or 3D design prototype, ideally presents your product as an almost exact replica of what is meant to be the final version.

This is essential because, for the most part, they are typically intended to win over management commitment, government grants, investments, and pre-sales agreements.

Machine prototypes – Your product in a market fit state

Machine prototyping is usually the final stage of the prototyping phase of product development. At this point, you get to see your product functioning at full capacity in a real-world setting with real-time tracking and analysis of all relevant variables. CNC Machine prototyping allows you to test every dimension of product functioning.

The goal here is to ensure your product is fit to undertake whatever purpose it was developed for and in extension determine its fitness for commercial production and market introduction. Machine prototypes can be built either in Australia or offshore.

Each comes with its attendant benefits depending on your specific needs. Rest assured however that we will walk you through the entire process of picking the best fit.

Prototyping gives you a detailed insight into the overall performance of your product. More impressively, however, it does so in record time and with the leanest of resources. The cost to value ratio is literally overboard. For every enterprise looking to scale efficiently, prototyping is a must perform.
