Solving Plastic Waste - Cooperative Research Centre

Royston Kent and Megan Hibbert recently attended the inaugural event of the Solving Plastic Waste CRC at Griffith University’s Southbank Campus. This 10-year research initiative is designed to support Australia’s transition to a circular economy for plastics. The Centre aims to act as a vital link between businesses, industry, researchers, and government, working collaboratively to tackle Australia’s growing plastic waste challenge.

The CRC's mission is to address plastic pollution by collaborating with the entire plastic value chain. It seeks to accelerate Australia’s progress toward eliminating plastic waste, establishing a circular and climate-neutral plastic economy, and fostering the growth of the advanced manufacturing sector.

Headquartered at Griffith University’s Nathan Campus, the Solving Plastic Waste CRC is a collective effort involving 11 Australian universities, CSIRO, and over 25 partners across industry, SMEs, government, philanthropy, and end-users. By leveraging Australia’s top-tier researchers, the CRC will also contribute to developing valuable skills within the sector.

Key Takeaway: Change is on the horizon. Will you stay ahead of the curve, or will you be left catching up?
