Salty Monkeys' journey began with a passion transformed into purpose. From simple ocean enjoyment videos that resonated on social media, their popularity led to a venture. Initial offerings included affordable apparel fostering a sense of community. As Salty Monkeys expanded, so did their responsibilities and influence. Acknowledging their impact, particularly among the youth, they incorporated positive messages into their brand. This included emphasizing the crucial importance of caring for the ocean and environment, integral aspects of their lives.

THE BRIEF

Green smiling emoticon with sparkling stars

The collaboration produced prototypes and a compelling business case. Now, Salty Monkeys aim to launch the product globally. This venture isn't just about a product; it’s about a movement promoting sustainable practices, waste reformation, and systemic change in how plastic products are perceived and used.

The journey is particularly exhilarating because it represents a first for the Torres Strait - the first time a First Nations member, born and raised in a region lacking in similar opportunities, has pioneered such an endeavour. The story of Salty Monkeys is therefore more than just a business venture; it’s a testament to the power of passion, a tribute to our roots, and a beacon of hope for our community.

THE RESULTS

This led them to an exciting venture: creating dive fins from recycled plastic in collaboration with B&C Plastics. Our commitment to sustainability and innovative manufacturing aligned with their goals. We became more than a manufacturer; we became strategic partners sharing ambitions for sustainability and Australian-made design.
