B&C Plastics Team Visit VISY’s Gibson Island Recycling MRF

Our team Royston Kent, Adam Drinkwater and Chiara Bortoli had the pleasure of visiting Visy's Gibson Island Recycling MRF last week, and we are extremely grateful to Andrew Burdett and Mark Oshea for an awesome Educational Tour!

While there, they gained valuable insights into the recycling process - specifically around the critical significance of excluding non-recyclable items from our bins. It's surprising how something as small as a single battery can have devastating consequences, and even seemingly innocuous items like Christmas lights can cause huge disruptions in recycling operations.

It's crucial to distinguish between materials labelled as recyclable and those that are genuinely recoverable. Check out your local Council's Website for guidance on what can and cannot be placed in home recycling bins.

Let's all educate ourselves and adopt responsible recycling practices to protect our environment and support the hardworking folks at Visy and other MRFs.
